In this elective, we are introduced to design thinking concepts, which we will use to design some functional prototypes to meet certain user requirements. Fundamental digital fabrication skills and technologies such as computer-aided design, 2D and 3D modeling, mechanical & electronic design and programming skills are developed through a range of hands-on real world activities. Project management, web and version control techniques, which are important for project development, will also be imparted to us in this elective.
Here are the projects we have covered from week 1-14. Firstly understanding about safety matters in the Fablab, to learning about computer graphics - rastor and vetor images, and using the CAD software -Fusion 360. Also, we learnt to document our process and progress on this website, using hmtl to write our content, using CSS as the format, and lastly publishing it on Github. We then a short break, and came back fabricating our first 3D print Chess Piece, design, laser cut and assemble our own Musical Box, as well as learning the ropes of Programming the Arduino Uno.
